Eden of the East - Final Impression

Final Impression:
Wow I’ve finally able to finish watching Eden of the East! Thanks to the storm that has stricken our country, it’s quite cold so I became lazy and decided to watch anime instead of studying physics and chemistry.

Eden of the East is a good series but it ended with a cliff hanger. The last couple of episodes kept me hooked with the plot and the answers to the mysteries that surround Takizawa, the Selecao and some of the identity and motive of its members. Looking back last spring I was so amazed with the first episode mainly because of the mystery, suspense, questions that the series presents and the fact that Takizawa is naked at the beginning. Yes, the plot is engaging and interesting because of this so called game that Mr.Outside made but at the middle of the series I lost interest because I’m confused since there are a lot of questions unanswered. I marathon it at around episode 8 and surprisingly it’s good. The end of the series is quite cool especially with the shooting that Takizawa did. There were also little details that I’ve noticed I don’t even know if it’ll play its part on the movie. It seems that Takizawa made an off screen request to Juiz that explains the beeping of his phone and why did he put his phone inside Saki’s pocket? Did he spend all of his money already? Is he the King of Japan now? What the heck so many questions that really need answers. I certainly can’t wait to watch the movie.

The only characters that left impression on me are Saki and Takizawa and their characters are I think well developed but as for their relationship I think it’s still raw. I though Isuzu was dead but no he’s not and I don’t know why the writers did kept him alive. I don’t really care about him. See, the problem of this series is the character development. They are not that fleshed out so I don’t really care whether they live or die. Of course I care about Saki and Takizawa’s character but that’s because theya re the lead characters and the story is focused on them.

One of Eden’s good points is the animation and character design. As you all know Chika Umino is in charge of the character design and she’s famous for her work in Honey & Clover. So you see a similarity in design of Takizawa Akira and Morita Shinobu which also has similar personality. The background is so detailed and the movement of the characters are also very fluid. The 3D used blends well with the 2D parts. The OP animation is really interesting and creatively done and explains some part of the series if you’ll carefully pay attention to it. The ending on the other hand uses paper-mation which is also creatively done. And the ED animation is like what happened in the last episode of the series.

The music in the OP and ED are really catching. I always found myself humming them while I’m walking. Together with the OP and ED animation it’s amazing alright. The bgm on the other hand, hmmmm…it’s barely noticeable because I can’t remember hearing it.

Overall, this is a really good mystery/conspiracy series that is set in modern times. Though there are some parts that are dragging and there are a lot of questions unanswered its forgivable because there’s still a sequel. Oh crap can’t wait to watch it.

BANG!

A fitting way to end Season 1. I must say I was impressed that they didn't fuck it up. On the contrary, it fucking kicked ass. Takizawa certainly looked more-than-human in this episode despite his over-the-top "bang" gestures. Is he the next Messiah? I dunno. Ask Mousavi.

So "Careless Monday 2" just got thwarted. Takizawa is the new King of Japan and he just ran out of money. What's next? The last 2 episodes of this series made me really interested. Good thing there's a movie planned to follow this up as the story itself is nowhere near finished. The final act could've looked better as a movie anyway. Imagine, the thwarting of Careless Monday 2 as a separate plot in its own? Worthy of an action flick, isn't it? Well, all I can do now is wait.

Terrorists, assemble!

Episode 10 was explosive. Somehow, somebody decided to dump all the revelations in this episode. In a span of 22 minutes, the identity of Mr.Outside and his background is revealed, as well as the identities and intentions of the other Selecao phone pals. It turns out Takizawa used to be one of them but encountered some major double crossing that caused him to wipe his own memory off.

It's clear folks, the Selecao is directly involved in launching missiles and wiping out NEETS. If the second careless Monday happens, it's time to see some fireworks! What's Saki and her nerd squad gonna do? The other guys have their hands full with the human avalanche while Saki herself is in a BSOD state right now. Will the missiles explode or not? Why not call BOPE for some kickass urban action! Since we're talking explosives here, why not?

Yes, Takizawa is one of them, but at the same time, he isn't. He's a phone pal, but he's not up to killing people yet. Time is running out for him, and maybe for some patches of pavement, too because they will get cratered again. Cool episode, I hope they don't mess it up next week.

It's goin' down!

Haha yeah, Finally! someone competent managed to advance the plot by himself by tinkering with those magic phones, and was able to connect the dots, though he does not survive long enough to learn the truth in its entirety, and there seems to be more to the selecao than we know.

Panties, while he was still useful has served well. Now, it doesn't matter if he's dead or not. What's more interesting is why those two guys know where the phones are. GPS aside, what's with their interest in those phones? Surely they're not from some rival company selling similar phones. It's more likely that they're some sort of cleanup squad or something... or someone did go apeshit when johnnylopper's phone was lost from her possession--thus making her unable to play the "game". There's only one person who would go apeshit. It's the puppet master. The lord of the phones. The question is who...

We are getting closer to uncovering the root cause of the events. Forgotten or not, the truth is closer than ever before, provided that no more gets run over by a little car.

Johnnylopper- with wings

To those reading my posts for this series, you might already know that I don't like that woman. All throughout the episode, I was wondering how it is okay to portray characters like these, but not when you reverse the gender role. Sure, you guys may think that this selecao chick rocks because she lops dicks off, but try to think in reverse. If this selecao was a guy who hunts girls and rips their tits off, who would be like, "oh yeah, baby!"?. Well, for one, I would. It sucks that our hero is too easygoing and not brutal enough.

Brutality is a very refreshing characteristic of a modern-day hero. People cheered for brutality. Anime might be helped by a few brutal heroes. Well, I don't think such will happen here. The main character is too easygoing, nuff said. We already have too much "too kind" archetypes. Inversely, too many villains are brutal. I always believe in fighting violence with BRRRUTTTALLLITTY! One lopped dick = Twenty thousand ripped-off tits.... mmmm fair exchange, don't you think?

The cat and mouse game could've been much better if Takizawa could match this bitch's violence with his own, but at this point, he's not a very good hero.... he possibly wasted his time on such petty things. I'm not opposed to what our dear selecao is doing, no way. I have no problem with that. I am just pointing out the hypocrisy of those who think it's acceptable to show it while at the same time, viewing violence against women as taboo. Tell you what guys, you propagate the notion that women are the weaker sex by believing in that kind of bullshit. Now, RIP THOSE GODDAMN TITS OFF!!

I dunno. I'm not in the mood for writing about plot-related things. I'd rather discuss what I feel right now.

Some "NEET" technology

I may be an alpha-meathead when it comes to pumping iron and beating people up, but I recognize good technology when I see one, and there's one right here. The digital identification technology developed by Saki's little nerd friend is an absolute win. I've been a fan of HUD's because I'm also a big fan of (Russian) fighter planes (and dogfights) in general, so I enjoy that little bits of information flashing over a transparent surface and the technology shown this week is a step towards the future. A jump. Transforming something military into something suited for civilian use, albeit not done by the industry, but by some little nerd who hangs out with her fellow NEETS-- the very same people "some" like to exterminate earlier in the season. Just imagine strapping one phone with the software unto your head and VOILA, instant personal HUD!

That said, Takizawa makes an unlikely alliance with the guys as on one hand, they call themselves NEETS, while on the other, Takizawa has a past of rounding NEETS up for some unknown reason. I wonder of what use are they of each other aside from being simple friends . On another note, one of them will have his dick lopped off by the dick slicer, but as shown yesterday, he deserves it anyway, being a loser and all that so don't mind him. Better not have his loser genes passed on though the bitch still needs to be tied up herself.

More phones and a bully

So more phones are revealed, IX and XI, and they are bound to complicate the still hazy situation. As usual, these phone bearers spend 10 billion yen as they please. However, this episode shows that they more or less act independently and any contact among them is marginal at most. Understandable, since the game is like a race to save the nation.

Anyway, we can discuss about the phone bearers in the following weeks, but I would like to talk about Saki right now. Turns out that her entire interview was just a ruse and she just got punked by a group of immature kids in suits. There’s this show in MTV called Bully Beatdown in which people like Mr .Beef Bowl and his groupies are taught a lesson about NOT bullying people by letting them fight against MMA fighters. I just mentioned this because it’s about time this douchebag and all his office lady cohorts be locked inside a cage with none other than WANDERLEI FUCKING SILVA and get their asses beat. 5 on 1, 6 on 1 no problem. The AXE MURDERER will fucking axe murder those mini-skirt and heels-armed office ladies and their boss. Oh how I love the sight of those pumps flying off after their legs get hit by a Muay Thai low kick delivered by non other than the 6-year PRIDE middleweight champion … Losing streak? Bring in Shogun Rua! Bottom line: No one punks my poor Saki.

I dunno, but I watched the entire episode fantasizing about molesting XI and kicking her against the wall while pointing an M16 rifle at her at the same time, saying “Don’t fuck with me, bitch!” At the first sight, I hated the bitch. She has evil written across her face. Motives and voice, all evil. Her scenes at the dinner table and the final scene reek of evil intent. Better lock her up in a cage as well, this time, against Vitor Belfort, for a quick K.O. NYAARRRRR!!!!
