lol. busy

I regret that I must focus all my writing energy towards doing my undergraduate thesis for the next few months, so I'll be opening another slot in this blog for interested writers. If you wanna join in, please email me at bzamora60(at)gmail(dot)com and send me a sample entry. If I pick you, that will be published in here as well.

Kimi ni Todoke - 01

OP: Kimi ni Todoke (きみにとどけ) by Tanizawa Tomofumi

ED: Kataomoi (片想い) by Chara

Impression:
If you have read my fall review then you know that I've read the manga of Kimi ni Todoke. It was loyal to the manga and it still good. I think Noto Mamiko is a suitable seiyuu for Sawako. Production I.G.'s animation is really good the watercolor hues is so comfortable with the eyes but I don't quite like it when Sawako transforms into her chibi version and I can't blame them since that's present in the manga also. I think they do that so that people won't first notice that Sawako is one hot chick.
I really like Kimi ni Todoke mainly because I can symphatize with Sawako. She is easily misunderstand by the people around her. It shows that if you should have the guts to open up to people you'll also be able to clear up those understandings. Another aspect why I like this series is because of I like love stories specially to the ones I can relate with.
I love the OP song more than the ED mainly because it's catchy. The ED on the other hand didn't grow on me. Btw, the OP and ED sequence is also accompanied by very gorgeous art works.
I hope I get to see more non-SD Sawako in future episodes. And just like what Thingle said, why does people get scared with Sawako when she's really that pretty. Well maybe because the concept of beauty is relative, wth I've applied my lessons from my humanities subject?? lolz...
until then...

Kobato. - 01

Impression:
The best description for this episode would be the word cute. Kobato is so cute specially when she tried to cook, that was hilarious. She's so cute when she sang in the episode and whatever she does.....she really looks CUTE! She's so cute and at the same time childish that I wonder how old is she. So yeah, we are presented with some bits on what the story is about but we don't really know who the hell is Kobato, where did she come from and why does she have that wish. I would certainly like to find out all of that so yeah I'll watch this one.

The character design and story was made by CLAMP so I really expect the character design to be gorgeous. Thank goodness MADHOUSE have not screwed up in animating this.

The OP and ED songs are appropriate with the series but I liked the ED song better which was sung by Megumi Nakajima. The OP on the other hand was also good but it's too jolly for my taste.

Kimi ni Todoke 4

I didn't like this episode very much for two reasons: 1) It was awful, and 2) We have enough "misunderstood" characters in anime and don't need one more. In the first place, it was Sawako's fault because she didn't put her feet down and act decisively enough for her "friends" to understand her clearly, and vice versa. She had a lot of opportunities to say a soundbite, but she preferred to over-interpret the body language of others and thus, give herself (and them) a perfectly predictable scenario.

This reminds me of how Asians act towards each other. That kind of interaction is unfortunately not limited to their place. I don't like the way they rely too much on unspoken and subtle hints. That kind of interaction creates unnecessary rifts between people. I've been into many misunderstandings due to my inability to read other peoples' "hints", and have been telling others that for as long as I remember. That's why while people praise my honesty, they often see me as brash and insensitive with my words. I guess I'm the anti-Sawako, the Sawako in reverse. So that's definitely a minus. If Sawako were a real girl, she'd be on my "unreliable people" list. I still do dig her (non-chibi) hair though.

For now, I'll be putting this series on probation. I've stopped reading the manga as so not to spoil my experience. I think I already know what happens next.

Stay tuned.

Poof!! I'm back...again lolz...

I apologize for the very looooooong absence. At first it was because I'm quite busy with school work and then here comes the finals so yeah busy 2x. Then again I got addicted playing games in facebook and also I've devoted my time in finishing 'Final Fantasy Dissidia' and it was worth it good game btw. Oh I forgot to mention that I'm not always at home during my sem break mainly because getting our school cards are such a hassle because of some professors sigh...Imagine waiting for that classcard in about what? 12 hours? Another reason is I've enjoyed reading books specially the new ones like 'Hush, Hush" by Becca Fitzpatrick. So as you can see I have so many distractions so my interest in anime declined.

Anyway I'm back and blogging resumes after All Souls Day since our family has to go and visit our departed love ones.

My line up this season would be:
1.Toaru Kagaku no Railgun
2. Kimi no Tosoke
3. Kobato.

Oh gosh, I have to get caught up with a lot of things so I'll try my best!

Btw, I'm not gonna continue blogging Kampfer, I don't know why I enjoyed the frist episode. I don't like it anymore. Its mediocre and the story is so confusing.

that's all!

until then...

I'm totally pissed

I'm totally pissed about the travesty called UFC 104. I was supposed to write my first impressions on Winter Sonata, but I couldn't hit "the rhythm". Sorry guys, come back tomorrow. For all of you Machida fanboys you can all suck on this...

Fuck UFC 104!

Aoi Bungaku First impression

In 2003, there was Texhnolyze. In 2007, there was Shigurui. In 2008, there was Mouryo no Hako. This, I think is this year's continuation to the insanely beautiful series' Madhouse seemed to release every year. Basically, the plan for the entire show is an adaptation of various literary pieces--but following the footsteps of its predecessors, this series might just have what it takes to be worthy of being in the same sentence as them, or even better.

The first episode was a very nice introduction to the series. Although this particular arc will last for just a couple of episodes, the series was successful in conveying a film noir-esque atmosphere a bit reminiscent of MnH but much more "sensual" due to nature of the characters involved. At least for the first episode, the atmosphere was very well played out. I liked the way the lady was used as a sacrificial lamb to further the story. That, and her character she embodied--a tired hostess who fucks with younger men and finally jumps off a cliff. It's definitely not something (1)4 year old kids would enjoy nor appreciate.

However, I appreciate the feel. In fact, this is the kind of show I hunt for every season. I'm perfectly happy with this one and am excited to watch more of the series.

Stay tuned.
